This course follows the Common Core Standards for 4th

grade mathematics with a focus on three critical areas.

First, students will develop an understanding of multidigit multiplication and dividing to find multi-digit

dividends. In addition, students will expand their

understanding of place value to 1,000,000 and the

relative sizes of each place. They learn how to apply the

correct methods to estimate or mentally calculate

products or dividends.

Second, the students will learn to add and subtract

fractions with the same denominator and the

multiplication of fractions by whole numbers. They also

learn that two different fractions can be equal, how to

recognize, and how to create them.

Third, the students will understand that geometric figures

can be analyzed and classified based on their properties.

The students learn how to understand the properties of

two-dimensional objects and use them to solve problems

about symmetry.
