HINDI

Hindi is an Indo-Aryan language that is an official language of India, along with English. It is also the official language of several Indian states, including Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Hindi is the most widely spoken language in India, with approximately 43.63% of the population speaking it as their first or second language.

Hindi is written in Devanagari script and is based on the Khari dialect, which is spoken near Delhi. It is part of an Indic dialect continuum that includes Punjabi, Sindhi, Urdu, Gujarati, Marathi, and Oriya. Hindi has borrowed words and phonemes from Persian and Arabic, as well as English. For example, the word for "force" in Hindi can be zor or jor, and the word for "sight" can be nazar or najar. Hindi has also incorporated many English words, such as "button", "pencil", "petrol", and "college".

Some basic Hindi words and phrases include:

Namaste: Hello
